Situated very close to Sefton Park, around two miles from the city centre.

For more than 20 years, Lark Lane has been known for a bohemian atmosphere that has made it popular with students, ex-students and many locals.

Still there is Keith's Wine Bar (0151 728 7688) where many beer drinkers first sipped wine due to its late licence which was a prized rarity in the suburbs back in 1980.

A long-standing neighbour is Que Pasa Cantina (0151 727 0006), with its Mexican cuisine. It stands close to the entrance to Sefton Park.

Also well established is the bustling restaurant and bar Maranto's (0151 727 7200). Next door is the Chinese restaurant New Regent (0151 727 1122).

Right at the other end of the 200-yard-long Lark Lane is the French cuisine of L'Alouette (0151 727 2142).

This is close to two Greek restaurants, Romio's (0151 727 7252) and Akis (0151 727 1474).

And if you like pubs the way they used to be, the Masonic and the Albert are still largely unspoilt by progress.
